Macular degeneration is the most common cause of loss of vision as we age. Up to now, we had no way to test macular function to predict if macular degeneration was likely to occur. Now, with the advent of a computerized test at Brill Eye Center, we can tell what your macular pigment optical density measures.

If it is below a certain level and you have other risk factors like smoking, UV exposure, being over 60 years old, a family history of the disease, you can take a supplement called Eye Promise Restore to improve your chance of not having this terrible blinding loss of vision. Just ask for the QuantifEye test when you are in for your eye examination. There is only a nominal fee for this test developed by St Louis-based Zeavision company.
